Stephanie Foster, photographer, columnist and photojournalist, has had three residencies at C-Scape, a Provincetown dune shack. The exhibition The Dune Shack Experience on view at the Cape Cod Museum of Art, November 20, 2010 - January 23, 2011, documents her time in the dunes, in October 2005 and 2007 and November 2009, through images taken during her stays.

Related events include an Artist's Reception, Thursday, November 18, 5:30 pm, and a Gallery Talk by Foster, Thursday, December 16, 12 noon. Both events are free with paid museum admission; Thursdays, admission is by donation.

Stephanie Foster is a Boston native who majored in English at Boston University then attended New England School of Photography where she was told to never stop taking photographs. She didn't. For 14 years, as creative director of Diutschfurs, she designed, wrote and photographed half-page ads in the Boston Globe Sunday Magazine section.

Before coming to the Cape, Foster worked as a fashion photographer at Frank Foster Photography Inc., a top studio on Newbury Street in Boston with her (now) husband, commercial photographer Frank Foster. Once on the Cape, her interest shifted to nature photography and portraiture. Brooks Academy Museum in Harwich exhibited a collection of her work called "Familiar Faces and Places" and her photographs have been seen in magazines and newspapers throughout the Cape.

For the past 17 years, Foster has been a columnist and photo-journalist. During that time, she has won numerous awards from the New England Press Association for humor and serious column writing, lifestyle features, health reporting, and color photography as well as several national awards from the Suburban Newspapers of America. This year, as the garden columnist for the Cape Cod Times, she received another award for environmental reporting.

Foster is the author of Snacks for the Brain, a book of humorous essays. A world traveler, she has taken her camera to Africa, Iceland, China, Thailand, Peru, Egypt, Jordan and Europe. She was given an award by Grand Circle Travel for her photography and honored by Parade Magazine for another.
