Dear CWO,

I was wondering if Cape Women has any future hopes or plans to publish the magazine on paper?

I know it's probably not possible with the economy (and also not as green, of course) but I hope that at some point in the future you might be able to print the magazine - even if it was only bi-monthly. It would be wonderful to have a hard copy, especially to give out as gifts. Has anyone looked into applying for grants to help cover costs? I think if you keep publishing such great stuff online and get more and more recognition, maybe it would be easier to find funding to publish at some point down the road. In the meantime, great work and all the best!

Publisher’s Reply: We’ have had several requests for a print version of this magazine. In fact, Cape Women was a print magazine, published by Gillian Drake, from 1999 to 2005. Gillian and I decided to re-launch Cape Women as an online magazine in 2008. (You can read our Publishers’ Letters in the Fall 2009 Issue) Although I loved the original print version, and still have every copy, I believe Cape Women Online has grown into the technology that now allows our stories to reach across oceans and borders.

Your idea of researching grants is an excellent one. If anyone knows how to begin such a process I’d love to hear from you!

Dear Cape Women Online,

I LOVED reading the Loving What Is Holiday stories! Dorothy’s made me laugh out loud.

Will there more like this in future? Can’t wait to read the next issue!

Thanks, Maddie
